Neighborhood Conversation Questions for Adult ESL Classes
Use these 20 discussion questions about Neighborhood to run a full speaking lesson with adult learners (B1–B2). Each part opens with a vocabulary warm-up, every question is labelled with the thinking skill it practises, and each part fills roughly thirty minutes of class time on its own.

Life in Your Neighborhood
Focus: describing local areas, sharing everyday experiences, comparing neighborhoods, and explaining what makes a place comfortable to live in
Think of one place in a neighborhood, one action people do there, and one person you might meet in the area.
Describe each word without saying it directly. Your teacher or partner must guess the word.

Community, Change, and Better Neighborhoods
Focus: discussing community relationships, local problems, development, public spaces, and ways to improve neighborhood life
Choose one word from each category: Person: neighbor, shop owner, child, visitor; Action: walk, talk, complain, help; Place: park, street, apartment, cafe; Feeling: relaxed, worried, friendly, annoyed. Use your four words to describe a short scene in two or three sentences.
