Astrology Conversation Questions for Adult ESL Classes
Use these 20 discussion questions about Astrology to run a full speaking lesson with adult learners (B1–B2). Each part opens with a vocabulary warm-up, every question is labelled with the thinking skill it practises, and each part fills roughly thirty minutes of class time on its own.

Part 1
Horoscopes, Personality, and Everyday Beliefs
Focus: sharing experience, describing beliefs, comparing viewpoints, explaining attraction, evaluating claims, and discussing personal choices
Think of one word connected to the zodiac, one verb related to predictions or beliefs, and one place where people might read or hear about astrology.
Describe each word without saying it directly. Your teacher or partner must guess the word.
EXPERIENCE
What experience have you had with horoscopes, zodiac signs, or astrology, even if you do not personally believe in them?
DESCRIBE
How would you explain astrology to someone who had never heard of it before?
CULTURE
How popular is astrology in your country, and where do people usually encounter it?
PREFERENCE
Which parts of astrology do people seem to enjoy most: personality descriptions, relationships, predictions, or something else? Why?
COMPARE
Compare reading a horoscope for entertainment with using astrology to make serious decisions. How are these situations different?

Why might a general personality description sometimes feel very accurate to the person reading it?

What kind of evidence would you want before believing that a horoscope or astrological prediction was reliable?
